Compression of ALL images
Some modules only compress product, category, supplier and brand images. Our module compresses all images in your store, even those of the theme or third-party modules.
No long processing to do
While other modules offer you a nice waiting page with progress bars to follow the conversion of all images to WEBP format, our module does not! The images are displayed in WEBP format as soon as the module is installed! Indeed, the optimization of images is done at the very first display: the image in WEBP format is created and stored in the same directory as the original image but with the extension ".webp". During the following displays the ".webp" file is served directly by the Apache server.
No subscription to an external service
Beware some modules use an external service to convert images to WEBP format, it is slower and you have to pay a subscription.
Our module uses the best (fastest) compressor it finds on your server, don't worry, in 99% of the cases there is one. In the opposite case, which is very rare, you will just have to install a free PHP extension.
Compatible with older browsers
Like some older browsers, Apple's Safari browser cannot read the WEBP format. No problem, the module will display the image in JPG format for them.
The original images are preserved
The original images are of course kept, they are not modified or moved in order to preserve the original quality.
